Volkswagen Of America's Sales Increase By 24.2% In November

Posted: 02 Dec 2016 06:21 PM PST

Volkswagen delivered 29,672 units in the US in November 2016, recording a 24.2% increased over the same month last year when it sold 23,882 vehicles.

The brand's best-seller was the Jetta Sedan, which accounted for 10,212 units, followed by the Golf lineup at 6,484, and the Passat, with 6,441 examples delivered.

Being left out of the podium, the Volkswagen Tiguan settled for fourth place, with 4,516 units, while just 348 customers selected its larger and more expensive sibling, the Touareg.

The cheating emissions scandal, which has made some consumers lose interest in Volkswagen Group-made vehicles, has left deep scars on the German giant's sales in the Americas. In the first 11 months of the year, sales dropped by 10.29 percent, to 285,719.

The Jetta family was, again, the favored choice, as it captured first place with 108,028 deliveries, followed by the Passat, with 65,761, and the Golf lineup, which accounted for 51,719.

Without counting in the Jetta SportWagen, which has been transformed into the Golf SportWagen, or the discontinued Eos, the biggest drop was recorded by the CC (-49.3 percent), the Beetle Convertible (-42.6 percent) and the Touareg (-41.6 percent) - all figures year-to-date. The Tiguan is  the only model in the brand's lineup that witnessed a YTD sales increase at 23 percent.
